Affiliate (also known as a Publisher)
This is a site owner who places links on his website to promote merchants’ products or services. For their efforts, the site owners get commission on all the valid transactions/sales referred to merchants by using a provided link.
Affiliate Agreement (AA)
This is the agreement between an affiliate and PayDayMax on how a business relationship will work.
Affiliate Network
This is a site where merchants can list their affiliate program(s). Affiliates can then join these programs and promote the merchants’ products and services by using text links, banners, etc.
Affiliate Program (also known as a Partner)
This program consists of merchants, who allow website owners (affiliates or partners) to promote their products or services. How does it work? First, a website owner must place the merchants’ links on their site. Then, when someone clicks on that link and a valid transaction takes place, the affiliate gets a percentage of that sale.
Backlink
This is a link from another website to your site.
Banners / Advertisements
These are online advertisements. Affiliates get paid by placing merchants’ virtual advertisements on their sites.
Chargeback
This is an incomplete sales transaction that results in a commission deduction.
Click Through
This is when a customer clicks a link.
Click Through Rate (CTR)
This is how often a visitor clicks an ad after it has been viewed.
Content
This consists of all information including the following: data, text, documents, graphics, and video.
Cookie
This is information stored on a user hard drive as proof of actual visitors.
Cost Per Click (CPC)
This is the amount the merchant pays the affiliate for each click on a merchant ad.
Impression
This is when an ad is displayed to a viewer.
Merchant
A merchant is a company that sells a product or a service. As an affiliate/partner, you market the products for the merchant, and the merchant handles the customer service and fulfillment.
Pay Per Click (also known as PPC)
This consists of search engine links that are paid for by an advertiser or an affiliate to direct traffic to their site.
Payment Threshold
This is the minimum amount of commission that must be earned before payment is made.
Return Days
This is the number of days after a click through that the affiliate still earns a commission.
Return on Investment (ROI)
This is the percentage of income earned vs. total investment.
Search Box
A search box is another way for affiliates to link to a merchant’s site. If a visitor wants to search for a product or service on a merchant’s site and you are affiliated, then they can search for that product right from
your site.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
This is an umbrella term encompassing PPC marketing.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
This means optimizing your site for indexing by search engines to improve search ranking.
Text Links
Text links are links that describe a merchant’s product, service, or site. They direct visitors from the affiliate’s site to the merchant’s site.

This is the Affiliate Agreement.
Unique Visitors
These are the first-time visitors to your site.
